Matar Paneer Gravy

  • 2 onions
  • 2 tomatoes
  • 2 chillies chopped finely
  • 7-8 cashew nuts
  • 1 cup frozen peas
  • 250 gms paneer cubes
  • 100 gms cooking cream
  • 1/2 tsp ginger garlic paste
  • 1 tsp chilli powder
  • 1/2 tsp turmeric powder
  • 1/2 tsp garam masala powder
  • 1 tsp cumin powder
  • 2 tbsp cooking oil
  • 2 tbsp butter
  • 100 ml water
  • salt to taste
  • coriander chopped, for garnish


  1. Sauté 1 ½ onion and tomatoes with cashew nuts in a pan with some cooking oil. Let cool for 5 minutes and later put the ingredients in the food processor to make a mixture

  2. Sauté ½ an onion in butter along with ginger garlic paste in another pan and add the previously made mixture

  3. After a minute or so, add the spices mentioned above

  4. Let cook for about 2 minutes or till you see the oil separate from the mixture. Now, add water and cook for 10 minutes

  5. Next, add cream to the gravy and mix well

  6. Finally, add paneer cubes and frozen peas (if you are using fresh peas, see the note below)

  7. Garnish with some coriander and butter. Serve hot

Recipe Notes

If you are using fresh peas then boil the peas before adding in the mixture
