The Nutella Milkshake craze is taking over the town. First Ice Lab and now Freez, both located in Al Quoz with the same concept. While the former started earlier this year, Freez came up with this idea not more than just 2 months back.
We visited both the branches recently and this is what we’ve got to say:
Service: Both the restaurants are located around the same area and are quite small with almost no place for customers to be seated. That being said, we were quite happy with the service of Freez which is fast and no-nonsense, while Ice Lab took a happy hour getting our order together.
Variety: Comparing both the menus which seem like a copy of each other, Freez boasts some quirkier options like Rainbow pancakes/waffles and Slushy Areej. I found a delicious option of Cheese and Cheetos Roll at Ice Lab that saved me from sugar overload.
Price: The pricing is more or less the same and is pretty affordable for each drink/dessert.
Food: Ice Lab wins hands down when it came to their milkshakes with the consistency being just right, while we found the drinks of Freez runny. The crepes and waffles are great at both the locations, basically drenching the dough in either Nutella or Speculoos (Lotus).
If I’m going back: It would be Ice Lab for sure. ( A better option would be Mirdif, as we heard they’ve opened up there too) Getting there is a little hard if you aren’t using maps, but it is sure wins our heart for an ultimate dessert fix.
Have you visited either or both the locations? Which one do you prefer?
