Desserts! A topic that everyone has an opinion about. Desserts! Something that is abundant in the U.A.E. Desserts! My favorite part of every meal. Which also gives me the title of being somewhat an expert in the field.
So what do you do when you happen to read about a place selling “the best” desserts? You order them of course! And trust me, chancing upon this, is one of the best things that has happened to me.
Let’s give some background to the company. Sugarmoo (Yes, it’s called that. What a wonderful name 😀 ), was founded by two friends, Raki Phillips and Jawad Yehia. Sugarmoo creates desserts that are easy on the eyes and yummy in the tummies. Oh! they also have some for the calorie counting conscious people!
Mr. Raki was very kind to offer me some of their desserts to try and give my honest opinion about. And I did just that!
Looking at their online menu, I found a lot of interesting options, that I assume have been added for Ramadan. The menu provides the price, name of the dessert with some fun facts about it, and also keeping in mind allergy information that customers may require. I ordered a Kunafa Cheesecake, Seductive Cheesecake, Pistachio Rosewater Baklava Cheesecake, Vanilla Chia Seed Pudding, Brownie Bombs, Wacky Oreo Balls and Chewy Chocolate Melts.
Let’s start with my favorite – the Kunafa Cheesecake. This HAS to be the yummiest thing they sell. The name itself was enough to have me craving for it. I love Kunafa. It’s one of my favorite Arabic desserts. And a Kunafa Cheesecake, now that’s wow! And, it didn’t disappoint. The top layer was obviously part of the kunafa, filled with a thick layer of creamy cheese beneath. Priced at just AED 30, this dessert seems worth the price.
Seductive Cheesecake – Now, this looks like a standard cheesecake. But oh no, they’re just fooling you! There’s a surprise in there, and that’s an Oreo. Oh yes, they actually have a full Oreo inside. Don’t believe me? Try it and you’ll see 😉
Next, I tasted their Pistachio Rosewater Baklava. Another favorite Arabic dessert, with a cheesecake twist. The cheese here had a different taste, and was also thicker in its consistency. Also, I loved the hint of rose-water.
Vanilla Chia Pudding – I had to order a sugar-free dessert when I knew I was going to be indulging in so many sweet treats! So I ordered this one. It came in a cute little jar. The pudding tastes good and the fruits taste fresh, unlike many I’ve had in other places that taste stale. This one is quite refreshing.
Brownie Bombs – These were maybe my least favorite. Yes, they tasted good on the outside, but I’m not a big fan of the inner stuffed Halawa. My family enjoyed it though.
Whacky Oreo Balls – Another place where they surprise you. These really look like normal Oreo truffles. But, when you bite into them, they’re chocolatey and yummy! Also, the sweetness is not overpowering. Served four pieces for AED 25.
And lastly, the Chewy Chocolate Melts. You get three cookies for AED 15. This is where I felt they could improve. The cookies were good, but they could have been thicker as that would prevent it from breaking.
As this was a home delivery, I have no comments about the service. But they are punctual as ever! I received my delivery at 4 PM sharp, when I was told that their Ramadan delivery timings start from 4 PM. Now, that’s what I call fast service! Perfect to order for sugar cravings! 😀
Excellent cheesecakes, fast delivery, reasonable pricing with exceptional quality and attention to detail,  Sugarmoo provides a wonderful experience. While my search for the best cookies still continues, the one for cheesecakes surely comes to a halt. 🙂
