Smokin’ Hot – Big Smoke Burger, Al Safa

Last Updated on May 9, 2016 by hungryoungwoman

I am a huge fan of burgers. Ask me to have a burger every day, and I’d do so gladly. So when invites to American burger places arrive, you can say that I am more than a happy person.

Big Smoke Burger located in Boxpark, Al Safa boasts not only some of the best burgers but also some amazing milkshakes. Take for example their Salted Caramel, that worked as water for me there. I loved it so much that I ordered another one! Yes, now you know how I’m gaining those wretched pounds.

Hey, random thought…I think I should feature a list of the best milkshakes soon don’t you think?

Anyway, let’s get back to the topic. Big Smoke Burger has a nice area inside and also outdoor seating. Excuse the quality of the pictures, as that evening, I was feeling like an outdoorsy person.

We ordered a burger per person along with a side of fries. These were the Spicy Burger with Cajun Fries, Crazy Burger with Bacon and Ranch Fries, and Big Smoke Burger (BSB) with Poutine (I ordered extra bacon strips with this one)

The Signature burger, which was the BSB, was quite a good one. The horseradish mayo slathered inside stood out and gave a nice flavor along with the extra bacon strips I had ordered. Unfortunately, I didn’t seem to enjoy the Spicy burger as much as the former one. Mainly, as it didn’t live up to its expectations. I expected something that was spicy with the smoky flavor of the caramelized onions. Sadly, though, these flavors didn’t come out much.

Having ordered the previous two with beef patties, we decided to go for chicken with the Crazy Burger. What we got was a wonderfully presented chicken patty that had a nice smoky taste.

Among the fries, my favorite was the Bacon and Ranch. Probably because I’m a sucker for both the ingredients. The Poutine, well, was forgettable.

Then, came the Pizookie. Simply put, a huge cookie topped with Vanilla Icecream and a chocolate sauce to drizzle over. (Click here to watch the short video)

This was the highlight of the night. Thick chocolate over the soft cookie is a must for chocolate lovers.

I usually expect fast service in places such as these, but the service was quite slow even though the place was almost empty. We had to wait almost 15 mins for extra tissues and wipes.

If I’m going back: I would opt for a chicken patty along with their Salted Caramel milkshake of course. They have other desserts as well which I’d love to try out.

Until then, happy eating! xx
