Friday’s at Dubai Mall held an event for bloggers on Thursday, where new items from their menu were launched. These featured a range of apple hickory smoked dishes.
We first settled down with some drinks; namely, lemon mint, Pina colada and strawberry mojito. All of which were a bit too tangy for our taste. Especially the lemon mint, which was just too sour and we couldn’t finish it.
From the selection available, we chose a steak, shrimps on skewers and chicken. Since the place was too busy, we were served after a good half an hour. Served as sides with each dish was a generous portion of mashed potatoes and broccoli.
Our steak came well done like we had requested it, but strangely it didn’t have the flavour it said it would. Also, I usually like my steaks with a sauce to go with, other than the melted butter on top, there was nothing to have it with.
The chicken and shrimps were comparatively better. We loved the shrimps so much, that we couldn’t help ordering another one. These came with six shrimps on a skewer and went very well with the sauce provided. They were even good on their own. The portion of chicken was too small and was done in almost no time.
Lastly, we ordered the new dessert plate on their menu. This consisted of chocolate fudge brownies, molten cake and rich chocolate cake with a scoop of vanilla ice cream. A couple of pointers for Friday’s, your molten cake is not what it should be like. The chocolate doesn’t ooze out like it’s supposed to. The choco fudge brownies were too hard to chew and we decided to leave them alone after a few seconds of trying. The chocolate cake, on the other hand, was rich and creamy with a good layer of dark chocolate. It reminded me of the cake at KFC, something you wouldn’t mind having, but wouldn’t go out of your way to get it.
Friday’s continues to be one of those places that people would go for their cheat meal as they have generous portions of good American food.
Do let me know how you find the newly launched dishes at Friday’s 🙂
