No one is a stranger to the Hilton hotels, so when Hungryoungwoman was invited to Hilton Ras Al Khaimah Resort & Spa to share the experience, my joy knew no bounds!
The emirate is a short drive from Dubai. It takes around an hour and a half max so it doesn’t bother the restless traveler in me. However, with the entry of the newborn, I have to admit that I was a bit skeptical about the journey. But, he slept like a log at the time! What is it about cars and children by the way? They seem to sleep so much better during car rides.
Beating the afternoon Sharjah traffic, we reach the resort at 5 ish and enter a lavish lobby that is a relief from the car journey and traffic which left me feeling sort of peckish. The check-in process is amazingly smooth and we are headed to our Double Guest Room.
The room is standard, but what we fall for is the gorgeous view from our room! You really have to see it here (Or, watch the highlights from Staycation)
Lush trees and a beautiful beach stretching all the way to the horizon, we watch the sunset while nibbling onto the little treats that were kept for us as a welcome gift from the Hilton RAK team.
We don’t realize how time passes and soon our tummies are looking for something much more than the nibbles. Good thing I had already made a reservation at Pura Vida, a churrasco concept restaurant. Dim lights coupled with slow music and meat. This is a place for that romantic dinner you’ve been thinking of sneaking to when you get the time. While the diners might be thinking this, all I’m thinking about is how my little one is going to behave throughout our meal. Good thing he was asleep before we even stepped out of the room.
The server brings us our plates and I’m a little unimpressed with the cutlery which seems to have seen better days. We are quickly explained our menu and choose to go with their churrasco which is AED 290 per adult.
Ten types of meat with bread and various sides might mislead you into thinking it’s a fair deal. Alternatively, I’ve been to Frevo in Fairmont, The Palm that serves 18 cuts of meat and sides for AED 295.
As the meat is brought to our table, we devour each piece as it comes. My personal favorites are Picanha com Alho (garlic crusted sirloin top cap), contra-filé (striploin), chicken medallions wrapped in turkey bacon, and the softest garlic bread rolls I’ve ever had the chance of tasting!
Dessert is Brigadeiro – chocolate and sweetened condensed milk truffles with ice cream and berries. We order this from the a la carte as the churrasco menu does not serve dessert.
After a heavy meal, we return to our room and I decide to check out all the resort has to offer. Due to the shortage of time, we aren’t able to indulge in their spa facilities which look really tempting.
Breakfast is served at Maarid from 7-11 AM. However, it’s more than your standard breakfast buffet. There is a mix of Arabic, Continental, and even South Indian fare. Since our schedule is quite packed (checking out on a Friday means leaving early due to Friday prayers), we hurry through breakfast.
The checking out process is surprisingly easy and the tax for the stay comes up to only AED 20 (how can we forget VAT applies here too!)

Will we go back to Hilton Ras Al Khaimah Resort & Spa?
We aren’t too big on Valentine’s but if you are, this is the perfect opportunity for a romantic escape!
A room with a view is always a must for weekend getaways, so ask for one. They have packages for suites and rooms, but our Double Guest Room was comfortable for 2 adults and 1 infant at 48 sq. ft.
Hilton Resort and Spa also has a number of dining options. Since Pura Vida was a bit of a letdown, we’re thinking of giving their Italian venue, Piaceri Da Gustare, a try next time.
