So what do you do when an invite from Jamie’s Italian, a restaurant under the name of your dream chef, Jamie Oliver, makes its way into your inbox? You accept it of course!
As much as the whole idea of visiting it was exciting, I was more enthralled to try the Chef’s specialties.
Located in Jumeirah Beach Hotel, overlooking Burj Al Arab, the interiors of the restaurant are more rustic looking. With wooden tables and chairs and a bar like vibe indoors. I preferred dining outside due to the lovely weather. I also chose this as a place to celebrate mom’s birthday, cause what better can it get than this? 😀
To start with, we ordered a Wild Mushroom Bruschetta, Crispy Arancini, Caprese Salad and Italian Nachos.
Being a fan of cheese and all things related, I’ll start with the salad. The buffalo mozzarella was easy to cut through and garnished with basil. A must if you’re a fan of burrata.
The bruschetta wasn’t anything I’d rave about, but the Arancini balls were a delight to have! Stuffed with risotto and a cheesy mixture, the dish was ravished in seconds.
The Italian nachos were a disappointment. First off, they didn’t look anything close to nachos, or fried ravioli as mentioned in the description. I felt they were a bit too bland for my taste.
After we were done with our starters, our mains were brought in. Prawn Linguine, the Rib eye steak and their dish of the day, the Lamb Shank.
Not being a fan of lamb, I tried the steak first. And my! This was amazing. The meat was well done, the way I like it and cut through nicely. There wasn’t much fat and I preferred it that way.
According to my partner, the lamb was a 10/10 dish. The meat was juicy and well seasoned. The puree had a nice lemon-ish taste to it which was good.
Since we were seated outdoors, our linguine was a bit cold when we got to it. For some reason, I did not feel that the prawns were fried as mentioned. Another main factor missing was the “garlicky” taste as described in the menu. This was an off dish for me.
And finally, we got to my favourite part! A chocolate cake was brought to our table with the friendly staff singing happy birthday to my mom. I loved the cake! The chocolate was warm inside and just melted in your mouth. This is something you’ve got to order.
Lastly, we finished off with a lemon meringue cheesecake. I really liked the lemon flavour that was balanced with the cheesecake. Most places have an overload of the sour taste that makes it less like a dessert.
I’d have to mention our server Salman here, who was very helpful with recommending us dishes and making our evening lovely. Jamie’s Italian is the place to bring your loved ones. With the beautiful view as well as perfect weather, now’s a great time to visit. I would recommend the Aranicini balls, Caprese Salad, Lamb Shank and the chocolate cake to anyone visiting Jamie’s Italian. 😀
Until next time…
