Another post that was long overdue, and I think I am highly in need of another meal here. The Collective, located in Grand Hyatt, Dubai is a fairly new place offering an all day buffet.
Other than the grand hotel it is situated in, the restaurant itself manages to please us with its warm hospitality upon entrance. Unlike its counterparts, The Collective focuses on just four kitchens that offer a wide range of choice for any customer. We start with the salads where the Muhammara is truly one of a kind. Then, we move on to other Levantine appetizers from the Levant Emporium like the Baba Ganouj and Moutabel while proceeding to the Grills kitchen to pair our starters with. Here, we could place our order and have it delivered to our table.
What impressed us most was the delectable cheeseburger with a juicy beef patty and cheese. A simple, yet delicious combination. (Click here for our favorite burgers in Dubai)
Next came the Indian section where we loved the simplicity of Dhansak rice paired with steamed fish in banana leaf. Also appreciated was the Kheema Pav which is a street food specialty in India. The quality of food seemed to make up for the lack of variety at this counter.
Lastly, the bakery section displayed a selection of cakes too difficult to pick out a favorite. Again we felt there could be more variety as compared to most of the places serving all day buffet.
If I’m going back: For a person who prefers quality over quantity, The Collective was more than just a buffet and stood out for me. The food made to order and handled specially by Chefs who interact with you is a bonus to the decadent food offered. Although, for those expecting diversity and different cuisines, might not prefer The Collective.
