Dining with a View – Park Regis Kris Kin Hotel

Last Updated on September 7, 2016 by hungryoungwoman

Our first dine out after a long vacation was to Park Regis located in Burjuman housing the famous Kris with a View, a restaurant that offers beautiful scenic views of Dubai. We previously decided to book a table for a personal occasion, since that didn’t work out due to a private event, we settled for dinner on Friday.

Kris with a View has introduced theme nights for each night of the week, where a different menu will be lined up on the buffet tables. Friday was “Indian and Malaysian Night”. Walking in, we couldn’t help but notice how empty the area was even though it was the weekend. The first impression of any restaurant is the crowd. Nevertheless, my date was happy as we wouldn’t be subjected to a lot of chatter during our meal. Ushered to our table with a view (as requested), we were charmed by the elegance of the city. This factor was enough to take my evening a notch high.

A server asks us to choose drinks, from which Kris Kin Cooler is worth a mention. Pandan and rock melon in apple juice, the drink was refreshing and as the name suggests, “cools” you down. We then proceed to the buffet tables and conclude that the choices are limited compared to buffets hosted by Kris’ counterparts.

The four counters consist of a Salad Bar, Indian section, Malaysian section, and Dessert Counter. Live stations were placed behind the dessert counter showcasing grills and kheema pav (a popular street food delicacy in India). Our favorites included the Vegetarian Pulao and Murg Makhani (Butter Chicken) from the Indian section, while the Malay side proved rather mediocre.

The Kheema Pav was another highlight, transporting us back home with its buttery pav and flavorful minced meat. While the sweet corner was a hit and miss, the Pandan Creme Brulee stood out from the rest with its creamy and silky texture that was unbeatable.

If I’m going back: Having tried the Indian and Malaysian Night, we would suggest more selection for guests. Kris with a View has other interesting themes like Ochi Sushi (Tuesday) and Seafood Night (Wednesday) which we’d give a try for next time. Service isn’t really an important factor at buffets since the main idea is to serve yourself, but the staff seemed quite friendly and helpful.

Kris with a View is apt for those who have a liking for comfortable food without burning a hole in their pocket.
