Ah! How tehnology has developed! A search online got me to this heavenly place too. Double Roti, located in Teynampet, Chennai, reminds me of the sister version of Tom & Serg, The Sum of Us. With wooden interiors, a wonderful ambience and great food, this has so much to offer.
The crowd is mostly big groups of friends and family, so you can obviously expect a lot of chit chat. But, a nice place for a hangout to relax and to top it up, really good music!
The menu looks more like printed text on a notebook. I like how they have kept it simple with no frills. The dishes have funny names and I opted for the Illegal Burger. This was the most talked about dish in the menu. And my oh my! When this arrived, I jumped with glory!
The beef burger consists of pickles, corn, sauces and a lot of meat. All supported with two pieces of soft bun. The beef was juicy and succulent.
Note: Do NOT have this if you’re expecting a neat meal. This is as messy as it gets!
Next, we opted for a Something Fishy and a Houston. The former consisted of fish fingers, with cheese and tuna. The tuna sort of smelled a bit, which I didn’t prefer. The Houston provided a rather crispy beef patty, which was wonderfully good on the inside.
For sides, we chose three types of fries. A sour cream and Salsa fries, recommended by the server, cheese fries and a classic.
The Sour cream and Salsa was a bit disappointing. Not what I expected. The cheese and classic, however, matched our was quite good.
The drinks were loved by all. The Oreo Milkshake, which was surprisingly served in a pot shaped container was of thick consistency and served chilled. Exactly how I like it. It was topped with a coriander leaf which made it look like a plant growing. An innovative technique to get people coming.
They also have a live kithen with quirky writing on blackboards. Nice to pass time by. Not that you’d be getting bored here.
It’s great to see how Chennai is developing and bringing in more places for the younger crowd.
Until next time. xx
Oh my! Looks delicious as heaven! Thanks for sharing.
You’re welcome. Do post about it if you visit 🙂
