An Italian Heaven at Per Te

Last Updated on May 13, 2018 by hungryoungwoman

It was my second time visiting Per Te, my first was when I decided to break my fast at the Jumeirah branch. This newly opened restaurant in Bay Avenue, Business Bay gives a welcoming impression to anyone passing by. The interiors are quite minimal, with most of the furniture containing their ingredients that are sold in the restaurant.

To me, this place could make a perfect cafe or a romantic diner, as they have dim lights with soothing music playing. Though this branch may be smaller in size, its menu is nothing but generous. I would recommend visiting for breakfast or lunch, where you can personally meet the head chef, Mr. Gladwin.

Since I was new to Bay Avenue, finding my way around proved a little difficult, but the manager, Mr. Anushka came to our rescue and helped us out. He was also kind to recommend their signature dishes as it was quite a task deciding them. For drinks, we ordered a Passionfruit Mojito and a Strawberry Rose Sangria. These were both refreshing and sweet. I personally preferred the passionfruit more since I love the fruit.

For starters, we chose the Sachetti di Braseola con Caprino. These were wonderfully garnished! The bresaola was shaped as small pouches with goat cheese. Drizzled on top was honey, with pine nuts and figs to complement the dish. Though I’m not a huge fan of either brasaola and goat cheese, the honey on top helped by giving a sweetish taste to the dish.

Next, the Bruschetta arrived. This was one of my favorites that afternoon. The tomatoes on top were mixed with pesto which added a nice touch.

From the mains asked for, our Gnocchi arrived first. And my oh my! This dish was the best among all those I’ve tried before! The gnocchi was paired with a mushroom and truffle based sauce which did wonders to the dish as a whole. Chef Glady does know how to impress!

Our seafood Risotto came, minus the clams (as I don’t prefer it) with tiger shrimps. I felt the flavor of the dish could be worked on since I found it pretty bland.

Our last main dish was a Grilled Rib Eye Steak. I have a tendency to always order beef and shrimps when I dine out, so this had to be on the list. The wild mushrooms not only went well with the gnocchi, they were great with the steak too!

And lastly, how could I leave without trying the Chef specialty! His desserts are spoken highly about, and he personally came to explain the dishes. The first one is called the Lieto di Choccolato. You can see how much work had been put into the dish, and the Chef names this the one “closest to his heart”, as he worked three months to prepare the dish.

I loved the presentation. Most importantly, I loved the different flavors I could taste. And, I have to say, this is one dessert you will have to try at one point in life.

Lastly, the new (so new it’s not even on the menu!) addition to Per Te’s long menu, the Felice. Prepared using stracciatella cheese, walnuts, pistachios and eucalyptus honey, garnished with figs and raspberry. I was given a perfect way to end my wonderful lunch at Per Te.

I would recommend this restaurant to anyone. And, if you’re confused what to order, ask for the bruschetta, gnocchi and the desserts, you’ll be taken to Italy in no time. 🙂

Until next time. xx
