I love afternoon brunches. It’s a great time to settle down with family and catch up with their lives, something which is so hard nowadays considering how everybody is turning into a workaholic!
The Art of Brunch at Movenpick, Bur Dubai was one of those. Taking place every Friday from 12 to 3:30 PM, the brunch displays a huge buffet area with different cuisines. Guests attending with kids need not worry as they have a separate play area and theatre for the tiny tots so they’re sorted till you finish your meal.
Which is why there were so many children running about when we entered. The place was also jam packed, thankfully, we had a reservation made in advance due to which I was seated almost immediately.
Enter the Fountain restaurant, and you’re welcomed with a huge staircase with a live pianist. And right in the centre is placed a wonderful dessert section. Doesn’t that look lovely?
From the Indian, Japanese, Cold Selection and Grills, some of the highlights were the duck with a beautifully flavoured sauce, the salad section with tabouleh and quesadillas, the Thai curries and the live grills.
Fountain also has a special menu for guests featuring its signature dishes. Choose one and have it presented on your table. Out of the four, we ordered a Fish n Chips and a Seafood Platter. 5 on 5 for the dishes. The fish was cooked perfectly and crispy, though a bit oily but delicious. The Grilled Prawns and Salmon was a winner too on the table.
Lastly, we approached the dessert table. There were various kinds of mousse cakes and pastries, but my favourites were the Tiramisu in a Mug, Chocolate mousse and Red Velvet cake. Fountain also presents a section of freshly prepared waffles…and alcoholic crepes. I don’t know why somebody would serve that, but good that the server informed us beforehand.
What wasn’t informed before was the Alcoholic appetiser hidden among the salads. Most people don’t bother reading the nameplates placed beside each dish. Since I happen to, I noticed this immediately. I believe alcoholic dishes should have a separate section keeping in mind the religious beliefs of people who might mistakenly consume it.
The service might be a bit slow due to the crowd, but the servers are friendly and helpful.
The interiors of the place are stunning and can serve as a great place for families and large groups. The Art of Brunch with soft drinks is 195 AED while the inclusion of house beverages costs 295 AED.
