Emirati with a Modern Twist! – Logma

I was recently invited to Logma, located in Boxpark, with my family. I love the location, Boxpark is totally cool with all the stores shaped like boxes and a colourful theme. Location wise, this deserves full points, there isn’t much parking but I was lucky enough to find one very close to the restaurant.

Upon entering, we noticed servers wearing the traditional Ghutra,Β which is the Emirati headwear for men. I was greeted by Assalamualaikum! (meaning “Peace Be Upon You”) The person in charge, Ric, assisted us with all our needs. The service is quite remarkable, with knowledgeable staff and polite servers. There was once when I dropped a fork by mistake and it was replaced the very second! I almost thought the server knew I was going drop one!

As we were quite hungry, we decided to settle down and order. For drinks, we tried the Passion of Arabia, Iced Karak and a Jallab (not mentioned on the menu). The Jalab has been my favorite drink ever since I tried it at one of the Iftars this Ramadan, and very few have been able to get it the exact way that I like. Logma was one of them. To say that I liked them would be an understatement. I ordered two more later, which just shows how much I’m in love with the drink!

From the three types that we tried, The Passion of Arabia deserves second place after Jallab. I didn’t prefer the Iced Karak much, as it felt like tea left outside for long. Ric also mentioned that the Iced Karak had mixed fans. Some loved it, while others didn’t prefer it much.

For food, we were spoilt for choice with the options. We settled for Logma Fries. Samboosa Cheese and Logma Shrimp Rice. Since we were also in the mood for some sandwiches, we ordered a Roast Chicken, Halloumi, Turkey and an Avocado Chicken.

The Logma Fries were probably the crispiest fries I’ve ever tried. The herbs that were sprinkled on top added a nice touch, and went with the whole Emirati theme. Cheese Samboosas are a regular during Iftars, but these had extra cheese in them. As long as there’s more cheese, who’s complaining?

The Shrimp Rice reminded me of home, since it tasted a lot like my mom’s Shrimp Biryani. So, being a bit biased here, this was the star dish.

Coming close second was the Halloumi sandwich. This consisted of crispy Halloumi, tomatoes, roasted peppers and Logma sauce.

When we were finally done with our mains, we ordered our dessert. Ric recommended the famous Chebab Katayef and that’s what we ordered. This dish was an absolute favourite on the table! The crispy pancake was filled with mascarpone and a dates mixture. Topped with a generous amount of saffron and cardamom syrup and a scoop of vanilla ice cream on the side. Yum!

We also asked for a Logma Tiramisu. This was served beautifully in a glass, with layers or coffee, cake and also date mixture. Loving how these guys have incorporated a little Arabic touch!

The restaurant is wonderfully decorated, with hints that remind us of old Dubai while also keeping it neat and elegant. I would recommend the Jallab, Shrimp Rice and Chebab Katayef for anyone trying out Logma.

Also, a special thanks to Mr. Samer for inviting my family and me and the staff for making sure we had a great time. πŸ˜€

Until next time. xx
